PWHL Expansion

PWHL Expansion Webinar

This webinar will bring together three individuals who have played a direct role in the growth and expansion of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL), offering attendees a rare opportunity to hear from those who have been involved in building the league from the inside. The panel will feature Jen Flynn, General Counsel of the PWHL; Meghan Duggan, General Manager of the new PWHL Hamilton franchise; and Tara Hunt, Partner at Goodmans LLP, who recently advised Kilmer Sports Ventures on its investment in the league. Together, they will explore what it actually takes to expand a professional sports league and launch a new franchise, drawing on their experiences from the legal, business, governance, ownership and hockey operations perspectives.

Rather than a traditional panel discussion, the session will be structured around a series of critical decisions that arise throughout the expansion process, from franchise development and league growth strategy to investment, governance and team building. Each panellist will bring their unique perspective to these issues as the conversation unfolds, providing attendees with practical insights into the realities of building a modern professional sports league. Audience members will be invited to participate through live polls and interactive voting, helping to shape the discussion in real time. The webinar will conclude with a rapid-fire lightning round in which each speaker shares their predictions for the future of the PWHL and the next phase of growth for women's professional hockey.
